Rated 2 out of 5 by mda114 from Ugh! This is my sixth Halloween Luminary and I love them so much. I had already decided this would likely be my last year because they’re pricing me out and I guess that decision was made for me when I removed it from the box and noticed black specs all over my right hand. You can literally rub the paint off of this area. So upsetting now that it’s sold out and I can’t exchange. Any craft person know how I can repair this?

Rated 4 out of 5 by t8134cs from 9th in the Series...but obscenely expensive! Let me first say the quality of this luminary is quite good; it is a large and substantial piece. While I'm not a huge fan of B&BW's rather strange choice of a metallic exterior color scheme (I prefer the more traditional Halloween grays/blacks/whites used for most previous luminaries), the glazing and fit & finish appear to be remarkably well done and there is an abundance of detail. I DO, however, have several concerns and hence the 4-Star rating. 1) Price - this has exploded over the past several years and is quickly becoming prohibitive - even when using a promo code/coupon. Yes, the luminaries have grown in size but frankly the original first (Harry Slatkin) haunted house released in 2010 had a nominal MSRP and doesn't require nearly as much space and displays beautifully! 2) Packaging - for the first five or six years, each luminary came in a unique decorative and protective box; that strategy has since been replaced by the utilization of somewhat flimsy, generic brown cardboard boxes (2019 being no exception). Also, the quality of the protective styrofoam that surrounds and protects the pieces during shipment and storage has declined to the point where it literally is disintegrating, making initial removal from the box a messy endeavor. It falls apart with minimal handling; this phenomenon started back with 2013's edition (Haunted Barn)! This frankly is unacceptable when considering an item with a its price tag. C'mon, how difficult could it be to secure a decent grade of styrofoam? The cost to address these two issues would be negligible. Folks, these luminaries have become very popular, are limited in production and have sold out fairly quickly over the past several years. I am a collector and own each issue since 2010 (with the exception being 2016 when only a metal luminary was offered). I can only hope these comments warrant consideration by B&BW's marketing department; the pricing trajectory HAS resulted in converting many previous HH luminary enthusiasts from purchasers to spectators.
